Countdown begins to launch of 2026 Burnley Together Christmas Gift Appeal
The annual Burnley Together Christmas Gift Appeal is set for a fun and festive launch next month.
An exciting event is on the cards for a launch in Burnley town centre that will kick start the appeal that collects Christmas toys and gifts for children across the borough.
Plans for the launch are being kept under wraps for now but the event promises to kick the campaign off with some festive fun. And this year the appeal has a very special theme asking people to 'give a gift, make a lasting memory.’

Explaining the meaning behind the theme, Nicola Larnach, Burnley Together Hub Manager, said: “We are asking people to think back to their childhood Christmases and the happy memories they have. It’s not about having the biggest or most expensive gift. More often than not, the presents that stay with us are the ones that meant something to us, whether it was a favourite toy, a book or something that made us feel special.
“We are asking people to tap into those memories and help us create some lasting memories for the children and teenagers the appeal supports.”
The appeal, which has ensured thousands of children and young people wake up to new toys and gifts on Christmas morning, was given an early start in April when the Northern Community Bank made a kind donation of £1,100.
The appeal was originally launched by the Burnley branch of the Salvation Army over three decades ago. Supported by the Burnley Express from the start, Burnley Together kindly took over the running of the appeal in 2020 during the pandemic when Salvation Army volunteers had to step back.

Businesses and individuals are being invited to donate toys and gifts and any companies who would like to get involved and spread some Christmas magic are asked to email Ella Roberts at [email protected]
