'Very close': Fabio Celestini makes confident vow about Burnley's next win

Fabio Celestini confident next win is ‘very close’

Fabio Celestini is confident his Burnley side are “very close” to securing their second win of the season.

The new Swiss boss has claimed two draws from his first two games in charge against Portsmouth and QPR respectively.

Heading into Saturday’s trip to Cardiff City, the 51-year-old believes the Clarets have shown enough - despite their lowly league position - to suggest three points are not far away.

“We are onto Cardiff and it’s another game, very close,” he said. “So no time to think too much, no time to train too much. Recover.

“But with one point [from QPR], where we showed good spirit. We are very close to taking three points, I think.”

Despite Celestini’s positive words, the situation looks pretty bleak for a Burnley side that now find themselves four points adrift of safety at the wrong end of the Championship table.

But with the season still in its early stages, Celestini isn’t getting too preoccupied with the mathematics.

“We don't want to see too much of the table,” he added. “Because we have 30 matches more.

“What I see is the process of the team at the moment. You can win, but sometimes when you win, it can be difficult in the future. But I see a positive signal.”

Celestini continued: “In general, the players have been fantastic. Very good.

“It's a pleasure, really. A pleasure to go to the training, a pleasure to spend time with the guys. Very positive, personal too. Not just like a player, but like a person too.

“It's a pleasure to come to the sports centre to train this team. It's not too much time, it's just seven days. But I see something, I have a good feeling.”
