Fabio Celestini on Burnley's draw at QPR and Coudert's costly mistake

Fabio Celestini’s verdict on Burnley’s draw at QPR

Fabio Celestini praised his Burnley’s side spirit following their draw at QPR - but accepts the Clarets were perhaps a little fortunate not to lose.

While QPR didn’t exactly produce a host of clear-cut chances either, they always looked the more likely throughout.

But Celestini will be disappointed with the nature of QPR’s leveller, with Jonathan Varane’s effort squirming underneath Gregoire Coudert’s grasp.

“It was a tough game,” he said. “Very good spirit, solidarity between the players, energy, fighting in the box many times. If today we don't have that, I think we lose.

“But we've taken one point and we are very close to take three. But honestly, when you see the game, one point is good.

“But I'm happy for what I see after the goal of Largie, the team all together, talking together in the dressing room, after the game too, more communication.

“All the team want to try to win games, win together. But it was very tough, and QPR at home is a very good team, a very tough team.

“But we missed a little bit today, the quality, the confidence for the players to try to go out of the pressing of QPR with the ball. I think we can do much, much, much better with the ball.

“But at the moment, what I see in one week, three games in one week, improving these things is very difficult.

“Confidence for the players at the moment is the result and we take one point Saturday, we take one point today, and hopefully, I hope we can take three points in Cardiff.

“But at the moment, I'm happy for what I see, because the basis is the spirit, and the team have that. They want to do good and for that, I say it's a good point.”

Celestini didn’t point any fingers at Coudert, however, despite his costly error for the QPR goal.

“Football is a mistake,” he added. “Without mistakes, you don't have goals.

“Greg said to me: ‘I can do something more’ and I said: ‘yeah, that's football’,

“Next game, it's like that. It's like that. We don't want to risk it too much, we want to improve.”
