Strike-off notice issued to Burnley FC’s parent company discontinued
The compulsory strike-off notice issued to the parent company of Burnley Football Club has been discontinued.
Last week, it emerged that Companies House had issued a warning to Velocity Capital (UK) Holdings over its financial accounts, which are almost two years overdue.
A First Gazette notice for compulsory strike-off indicates that the company is at risk of being removed from the official register.
If Companies House strikes your business off, it will be dissolved and legally cease to exist.
“The Registrar of Companies gives notice that, unless cause is shown to the contrary, the company will be struck off the register and dissolved not less than 2 months from the date shown above,” the notice stated.
“Upon the company's dissolution, all property and rights vested in, or held in trust for, the company are deemed to be bona vacantia, and will belong to the Crown.”
In response to the notice, Burnley’s owners ALK Capital - of which Velocity is its sports investment arm - said they are taking the “necessary steps” to resolve the issue.
“We are aware of the notice issued by Companies House and are taking the necessary steps to resolve the matter,” a spokesperson for ALK Capital told the Burnley Express.
“Our company secretarial advisers are in direct contact with Companies House, and we are working closely with our external accountants and auditors to finalise the outstanding accounts.
“We expect to make the necessary filings in the coming weeks and remain fully committed to bringing our reporting obligations up to date as quickly as possible.”
In a new Companies House filing issued overnight, the compulsory strike-off notice has now been “discontinued”.
This means Companies House has stopped the process of dissolving the company and the business remains active on the public register.
This document in question is being processed and will be available in 10 days.
This is not the first time Velocity has been hit with such a warning. A First Gazette notice was previously issued in February 2025, but was resolved within a month.
Velocity has yet to file any accounts on Companies House since its incorporation in March 2023. Its first accounts were due by December 24, 2024.
ALK Capital was also hit with similar warnings in December 2022 and December 2024. The first one was discontinued, while the second was quickly dismissed.
