Bashir Humphreys earmarked for Burnley’s 25-man squad list
Bashir Humphreys is being earmarked to take a spot in Burnley’s 25-man squad list on his return from injury.
The 23-year-old has been sidelined with a knee injury since August and was omitted from Burnley’s squad list as a result.
But with a free spot still waiting to be filled, following the decision to take the injured Hannibal out, Humphreys could be added back in upon his return.
When asked who will take the final spot in the 25-man squad list, Celestini replied: “Humphreys is very close to coming back.
“Humphreys, I think, I don't know if it's at the end of the month, but I see him today and he was smiling.
“He was happy because the feeling is great and for that, I hope we can have Humphreys at the end of the month or maybe at the beginning of December, but it's not so far.”
On the injury front, the Clarets could be boosted by the return of Zeki Amdouni for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff City.
The forward is back in training after recovering from the ankle injury he picked up during the 4-0 win at Watford last month.
“I think he's available” Celestini confirmed.
“We must see the reaction [from training]. We want to talk with him, but today was not a big training. We must see tomorrow, but it's positive.”
Burnley still have a long list of players that are either out injured or unavailable due to being left out of the club’s squad list.
Alongside Humphreys and Amdouni, these are: Ben Amos, Jordan Beyer, Shurandy Sambo, Hannibal, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Dastan Satpayev, Ashley Barnes, Armando Broja and Michael Obafemi.
When asked if any of those names could be back after the upcoming November international break, Celestini added: “We must see.
“Satpayev? I don't know. Broja, I think he's more long time. I don't know what we have more.
“Humphreys too, it's a review tomorrow, some couple of weeks. I think it's difficult. We don't receive too many players back after the international break, I think.”
