McDonald is loaned out to Scunthorpe

Kevin McDonald has today joined Scunthorpe United on a month’s loan.

The Clarets’ midfielder moves to Glanford Park for the chance of regular first-team football.

McDonald has figured just once for the Clarets so far this season, coming off the bench to score in Burnley’s Carling Cup win at Morecambe in August.

The 21-year-old has made 64 appearances - with roughly half as a substitute - for the Clarets since signing from Dundee in June, 2008.

“It does them a favour but it does us a favour. Kevin needs to get some games,” said Clarets boss Brian Laws, who sanctioned the move to his former club.

“They play a style of football that will suit Kevin down to the ground so it’s a great move for him as well.

“He’s playing in the Championship so we can keep a close eye on him and I can keep a close eye on him because I live around the corner! He’s not disappearing too far.”

Meanwhile, Laws is also hoping to complete two further outward loan deals later today.
