Read and Simonstone Club to host Thai food buffet to raise funds for Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal

The event on Saturday, November 21, aims to raise much-needed funds and awareness for the charity, which has helped over 15,000 men get tested for prostate cancer since its inception in 2015.

A Thai food buffet is being hosted at Read and Simonstone Club to raise money for a cause close to members’hearts.

The event on Saturday, November 21, will support The Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal, helping to raise much needed funds and awareness.

Barry, a survivor of stage four prostate cancer, set up the charity in 2015. Since then around 15,000 men have been tested and, while the majority get good results, anything that’s in the ‘amber’ or ‘red’ range is always advisde to get further tests.

Offering prostate cancer testing at venues throughout the UK, there are no national screening events, which is why the charity hosts events at sports grounds nationwide, where men are more likely to attend.

And Read and Simonstone Club wants to help to set up a test venue in the village where Barry has a connection as an ex Read United player. It is hoped that many of Barry’s former teammates will be at the Thai food night.

Tickets, priced at £25, can be bought over the bar at the club or by phoning Steve Neary on 07960333215.

A raffle is also being organised to help boost the total raised.
