What to expect from Burnley's transfer deadline day with ins and outs on the agenda

A preview of what we can expect from Burnley’s deadline day

Another frantic deadline day appears to be in store for Burnley as they put the finishing touches to their last transfer business of the summer.

The Clarets have until 11pm tonight to get their deals done, with both ins and outs still on the agenda.

The main talking point continues to be the future of striker Zian Flemming, who is in talks over a deadline day move back to the Premier League with Ipswich Town.

French side Lille have also been credited with interest, as have top flight quartet Brentford, Coventry City, Everton and Leeds United.

All in all, it’s clear Burnley face a big fight on their hands to keep hold of their star man and last season’s top goalscorer.

If he goes, which is looking likely, surely the Clarets will need to replace him? Assuming they have the time...

On the incoming front, Sunderland’s Jocelin Ta Bi looks set to join on loan, while a permanent deal could be in the offing for Leeds United’s Largie Ramazani.

Both are wide men/forwards, which is a key area of the pitch Nicky Hayen has been looking to address in the market.

A new left-back is also something the Clarets were already looking to prioritise, even before Bashir Humphreys suffered his knee injury. Brighton’s Igor Julio, who is capable of playing at both centre back and left back, could fill that bill.

In a perfect world, Hayen would also want further strengthening in the number six role given the clear imbalance in Burnley’s midfield so far this season.

But all of this can’t be done without further departures, as Burnley’s squad is already clearly bloated, with 33 players on their books.

Joe Worrall is poised to join fellow Championship Wrexham in a reported £2m permanent deal, while the likes of Shurandy Sambo, Hjalmar Ekdal, Lyle Foster, Andreas Hountondji and Michael Obafemi are all possible candidates to move on.
