Award-winning Clitheroe restaurant annouces closure after seven years - here's what's coming next
Events by Toms Table - an outside catering business - will continue as normal.
An award winning bistro in the heart of Clitheroe will close permanenly at the end of the month.
Toms Table, by chef Tom Drinkall, has operated from an historic property in Lowergate for seven years, producing French-inspired cuisine married with Lancashire's flavours.
The restaurant has won several major awards, including being crowned Best Restaurant in Lancashire in the 2022 England Business Awards and in 2024 it won both the Ribble Valley Hospitality Award and the prestigious BEACON Award.
But the bistro will hold its final service on Saturday, October 17.
Taking to social media, the restaurant team said: “Hospitality has changed enormously over the last few years. Rising costs and changing dining habits have brought challenges for independent restaurants everywhere, and we've certainly felt those pressures ourselves.Like so many others, we've continued to adapt, evolve and give it everything we have. But after a great deal of thought, Kate and I have decided that the time is right to bring this chapter to a close and focus on what comes next.
“When we opened, we had one simple ambition, to create a restaurant we could be proud of here in Clitheroe. Looking back at what we've achieved, we can honestly say we did that. We've worked with some incredible people, supported fantastic local suppliers, cooked thousands of meals and welcomed so many of you through our doors.
“We've been part of birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, family celebrations and countless ordinary meals that turned into great nights. Those are the things we'll remember.”

Importantly, the announcement conformed that Events by Toms Table - an outside catering business - will continue as normal.
The statement said: “The closure of the bistro has no effect on any weddings, private dining or events already booked with us. In fact, this next chapter gives us the opportunity to dedicate even more of our time and energy to creating those special occasions.
“Between now and our final service on Saturday 17th October, we'd love to see as many familiar faces as possible and enjoy the bistro together one last time. To our team, past and present, our suppliers, friends and every single person who has supported us over the last seven years...Thank you.
“We're incredibly proud of what we created, the memories we've made and the people we've met along the way. It's been one hell of a chapter.”
