Fabio Celestini confirms another injury setback for Burnley's Dastan Satpayev
Dastan Satpayev facing another spell on the sidelines
Dastan Satpayev is facing another spell on the sidelines for Burnley.
The Chelsea loanee was absent from the Clarets’ squad on Saturday as they drew 0-0 with Portsmouth in Fabio Celestini’s first game in charge.
It comes after the 18-year-old was also left out of the Kazakhstan squad for their upcoming Nations League games in November.
The forward has only just returned from a previous hamstring injury, where his recovery was carefully managed by his parent club who wished to step up his minutes in stages.
Now Satpayev looks set for another spell on the sidelines, although Celestini is not aware of the full extent.
“We work now with Chelsea,” he explained.
“He has hamstring problems, muscular problems. We must see it together, step by step, day by day and see what happens.
“It's very difficult to say [how long he will be out for]. I’ve only been here for 48 hours. I have a lot of information, but maybe I don't have all the information.”
Armando Broja also missed out against Portsmouth on the weekend, a week on from hobbling off early on against Lincoln City with what previous boss Nicky Hayen described as a groin problem.
“We know he's a little bit more long for sure,” Celestini added. “But we must see a little bit in the next week.
“But what happened for say, two, three, four, five, six or seven weeks, we must wait.”
Anel Ahmedhodzic, Josh Cullen, Aaron Ramsey and Jaydon Banel all made their returns to Burnley’s match day squad against Portsmouth at the weekend.
For Cullen, the midfielder came off the bench to make his first appearance since December 2025, when he suffered an ACL injury against Everton.
Ben Amos, Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Shurandy Sambo, Hannibal, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Mike Tresor, Zeki Amdouni, Ashley Barnes and Michael Obafemi all remain sidelined.
