Burnley's stance on backroom staff of new boss Fabio Celestini

Fabio Celestini to be joined by at least two new members of backroom staff

New Clarets boss Fabio Celestini will be joined by at least two members of his backroom staff, the Burnley Express understands.

The 50-year-old Swiss coach is the man tasked with steering the club away from Championship trouble, starting with Portsmouth on Saturday.

It comes after the Clarets sacked Nicky Hayen after just 106 days in the job, after he won just one of his 12 league games in charge. It leaves Burnley rooted inside the Championship’s relegation zone.

While the announcement of Celestini’s arrival made no mention of his contract length or his backroom staff, it’s understood he will bring at least two coaches with him.

They will likely replace Belgian duo Johan van Rumst and Matthias Bernaert, who both departed Turf Moor with Hayen.

It’s yet to be confirmed if Mike Jackson, Henrik Jensen, Jack Cork and goalkeeping coach Kersten Kuhl will all remain in situ.

One man who won’t be joining Celestini in the dugout is Jose Blesa, who worked with him at both Basel and CSKA Moscow.

“Today our professional paths diverge, but everything we experienced and achieved together will always remain,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

“These have been years of hard work, challenges, learning, great moments, and shared successes—all of which I will look back on with immense pride and affection.

“Fabio, thank you for your trust, for everything we have built together, and, above all, for the person you are.

“I wish you all the best in this new chapter at Burnley. I carry with me deep admiration, profound respect, and - most importantly - a friendship that extends far beyond football.

“Paths may change, but what we experienced together endures. Wishing you all the luck in the world, coach!”

The likes of Manel Exposito, Javi Noya, Gabriele Bagattini and Paolo Favaretto also worked with him in Russia.
