Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service trains at historic Brierfield Mill

Firefighters take training session to historic Brierfield mill

Firefighters visited a historic former mill in Brierfield for a training session, with a local coffee shop providing refreshments for the team.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service chose Northlight Estates, the Grade II-listed former Brierfield Mill, as the venue for the exercise.

The visit brought fire engines to the popular Pendle destination, which has been redeveloped into a mixed-use site featuring businesses, offices, leisure facilities and residential accommodation.

Following the training session, firefighters were treated to complimentary coffees donated by Black Sheep Coffee, which operates at Northlight.

Toby Whittaker, managing director of Northlight Estates, said: “We’re used to welcoming businesses, residents and visitors to Northlight, but it's not every day we have Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service joining us!

“It was fantastic that they chose Northlight for their training session, and we're always pleased to support the incredible work our emergency services do.

“We were happy to provide complimentary coffees from Black Sheep Coffee as acknowledgement of all their hard work and continued service.”

The former textile mill is one of Pendle's most recognisable historic buildings and has been given a new lease of life through its redevelopment.

The training session provided another use for the site, which continues to accommodate a range of businesses and activities within its historic industrial setting.
