Jay and Hume up for award

BURNLEY striker Jay Rodriguez has been shortlisted as npower Championship Player of the Year 2011 at the Northwest Football Awards.

Rodriguez, 22, hit 15 goals for the Clarets in all competitions last season.

At the star-studded event, npower, title sponsors of The Football League, will be presenting their Awards to the top players in the Championship, League 1 and League 2.

Professional Footballers’ Association Chief Executive Gordon Taylor is one of the judges.

He said: “The region has built up phenomenal respect and credibility, not only through the success of its clubs, but also as the home to the PFA, The Football League and The National Football Museum.”

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Monday, November 14th at Lancashire CC.
