The Clarets came from behind to win 3-1 in their season finale thanks to a Josh Brownhill double and a Jaidon Anthony strike.
It looked like it would be enough for Scott Parker’s men to deservedly finish in first place, but Leeds United snatched the trophy away from them with a 91st minute winner at Plymouth.
Nevertheless, it’s still been a remarkable campaign for the Clarets, who end the season 33 unbeaten, having lost just twice and conceding just 16 times in 46 games.
Here’s how Burnley’s players rated:

5. Maxime Esteve - 8/10
Struggled a little bit early on with the pace of Millwall’s frontline, but soon composed himself to deliver another hugely impressive display. Photo: Harry Murphy

6. Lucas Pires - 8/10
Continued to link up well with Anthony and was involved in plenty of good interplay up and down the left flank. Photo: Matt McNulty

7. Josh Cullen - 8/10
The orchestrator. Always the first to break up play and picked up the bits and pieces. So composed on the ball and combined so well with Brownhill. Photo: Alex Livesey

8. Hannibal - 8/10
Like a man possessed. Seemingly never tires despite covering every inch of grass. Unsurprisingly wound up the Millwall fans and came inches away with a vicious curler. Photo: Matt McNulty
