Where Burnley are predicted to finish after disastrous start to the season
Supercomputer predicts Burnley’s final Championship finish
Burnley head into the international break rock bottom of the Championship table.
It means the Clarets, who are still without a league win since February, sit on just four points from their opening eight games.
Following Cardiff City’s victory at the weekend, Burnley are now the only Championship side without a win to their name this season.
They now have a long wait until they’re next in action, with their campaign resuming after a three-week international break with a trip to Watford on October 10.
Despite Burnley’s woes, the Betarades supercomputer, BETSiE, still has Hayen’s side to finish in mid-table.
It’s well off their pre-season predictions, which had Burnley in contention for another automatic promotion back to the Premier League, but at least they’re away from any danger.
The model simulated the league season 100,000 times, accounting for all match results from pre-season, the previous campaign and the current season to date.
It projects outcomes based on pre-season expectations, fixture difficulty, and underlying performance metrics such as xG for and against.
