Nicky Hayen assesses Reo Hatate’s Burnley debut
Nicky Hayen has vowed there’s a lot more to come from Burnley’s deadline day signing Reo Hatate.
The former Celtic man made his debut for the Clarets during Saturday’s game against Bristol City at Turf Moor.
The 28-year-old showed glimpses of his quality and set up Aaron Ramsey’s opener, but was also guilty of being caught in possession on a couple of occasions.
While Hayen was pleased with his first showing, he expects the Japanese international to only improve as the season wears on.
“So the goal was actually a nice example of it, but we also expect more.
“But you cannot expect more when you're not 100 per cent top and this is what we try to push for every day.”
Hatate was one of three deadline day signings at Turf Moor last week, as Igor Julio and Largie Ramazani also signed from Brighton and Leeds United respectively.
Ramazani was given a cameo off the bench against Middlesbrough before being handed his full debut on Saturday, but continues to have his minutes managed carefully.
Igor, meanwhile, could only make the bench against Bristol City having barely featured for the Seagulls over pre-season.
