Burnley theatre group St Cuthbert's stages 'Cinderella' with real-life sisters siblings as the stepsisters
The production of 'Cinderella' at St Cuthbert's Community Hall in Burnley features real-life sisters Marina Murray and Fiona Monk playing the stepsisters, bringing an extra layer of authenticity to the roles.
There were never two such devoted sisters as…. Marina Murray and Fiona Monk.
And while the duo have performed together in many shows for Burnley theatre group St Cuthbert’s they’ve never had the chance to share the stage as principals.
But all that will change when they make their debut, quite aptly, as the stepsisters in the company’s production of‘Cinderella.’
Fiona, who is playing Grace in the classic rags to riches fairytale, said: “Playing the stepsisters in Cinderella has been such a fun experience, and I think our natural chemistry as real-life sisters brings an extra layer of authenticity to the roles. We’ve loved bringing these two spoiled and despicable characters to life together.”

And Marina, who takes on the role of Joy, added that, unlike their stage characters, the sisters get on famously. She said: “it’s been fun to play characters that bicker with each other. Rehearsals have been such a laugh, and we hope the audiences enjoy the show as much as we have.”
The show runs from Monday to Saturday, November 2 to 7, excluding Thursdayl November 5, at St Cuthbert’s Community Hall in Towneley Street, Burnley. The Saturday performance is a matinee show.
