Dastan Satpayev Burnley fitness update amid Chelsea instructions

Nicky Hayen urges more caution with Dastan Satpayev

Dastan Satpayev still requires easing back to full match fitness for Burnley on his return from injury.

The forward has been carefully managed since returning to training after a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.

The 18-year-old made his return off the bench against Watford, playing 20 minutes, before his parent club Chelsea stopped him from being available for the game against Charlton Athletic four days later.

Satpayev was again limited to 30 minutes for Burnley’s last outing, the defeat to Wolves, but will now be able to step up his involvement when they make the trip to Lincoln City this weekend - but still not the full 90.

“Dastan was injured,” Clarets boss Nicky Hayen said.

“So he is very important for our team. For now [the Wolves game], he can play 30 minutes. But he has a lot of speed, he has a lot of intensity, energy, individual action, so he is very important for our team.

“But I hope he can play more than 30 minutes, so it will be 45 minutes and then 60 and then I think a complete game.”

Satpayev struggled to have an impact off the bench against Wolves last time out, as Burnley squandered the lead to lose 2-1 to stretch their winless home league run to over a year.

“It's hard to get into a game like this, with an atmosphere that is a little more negative, so it's not easy,” Hayen added.

“When you don't stay in the structure, and you force things, it's even more difficult.

“But he has a lot of quality and I'm sure that he will show again and give good things for us.”
