'Dominant': QPR boss rues lack of 'efficiency' during frustrating Burnley draw
QPR boss rues his side’s lack of “efficiency”
QPR boss Julien Stephan rued his side’s lack of “efficiency” after their failure to put Burnley to the sword.
The Frenchman was “frustrated” to only come away with a point after his Hoops side dominated for much of last night’s 1-1 draw at Loftus Road.
They had to come from behind though to secure their point after the Clarets took the lead courtesy of Largie Ramazani’s strike, which was Burnley’s only shot on target of the night.
QPR levelled through Jonathan Varana and had more than enough moments in Burnley’s box to claim the three points, but were unable to capitalise.
“I’m frustrated with the result for sure, but not with the performance,” Stephen told QPR’s official website.
“We started the game very well, the first 25 minutes, and we had enough to score a minimum two goals. But the lack of efficiency, the lack of composure sometimes in the last third, and then they score with their first shot…
“It was important at half-time to re-assure the players, because the last 15 minutes of the first-half we missed some easy passes and we tried to do something more difficult. We were less connected.
“In the second-half, I thought we were dominant. We equalised and I thought we had enough to win the game, so I’m frustrated with the result. But I repeat, not with the performance.
“We had 20 shots and touched the ball 45 times in the opponent’s box, whereas they only shot four times and they only touched five balls in our box, so really, really dominant.
“But it’s a question of efficiency.”
