Lyle Foster set to join MLS side on initial loan
Lyle Foster is poised to leave Burnley to sign for MLS side Houston Dynamo.
As per The Athletic, the 25-year-old has agreed a loan move to America, with an option to make it permanent at the end of the season for around £5m.
While the MLS transfer deadline closes later tonight, the deal has already been agreed, with the South African completing his medical on Tuesday.
It’s fair to say Foster’s move to Turf Moor hasn’t worked out as planned, with the striker struggling for regular game time and goals over the last couple of seasons.
A January 2023 signing from Belgian side Westerlo, Foster scored one goal in 15 appearances during the second half of the Vincent Kompany promotion campaign.
He found the back of the net on five occasions the following season as Burnley were relegated from the Premier League, from 26 games.
He again struggled to find the back of the net during Scott Parker’s promotion season, scoring just three times in 31 appearances.
Foster bagged three goals last term as the Clarets were relegated from the top flight once again, having played in 28 games in league and cup.
That gives Foster an overall record of 12 goals in 100 appearances in league and cup for Burnley.
He’s yet to play a single game so far this season, left out following his late return to pre-season following his participation at this summer’s World Cup.
Foster started South Africa’s group opener against Mexico but didn’t feature for the remainder of the tournament.
