Swansea City boss makes intriguing claim about big Burnley errors
Swansea goals weren’t just a result of big Burnley errors
Swansea City boss Vitor Matos insists the errors that helped his side claim a win against Burnley were far from an accident.
Goalkeeper Max Weiss was caught out on the ball for the opener, before the home side pounced upon a stray Ugo Raghouber pass for the second.
But while the defeat feels self-inflicted from a Burnley perspective, Matos believes the errors were a direct of his side’s constant chasing.
“It was a good game,” he said. “It was quite complete in different phases of the game.
“With the ball we had really good moments, important moments that gave us the spell, the initiative, the control and the right positions and for pushing Burnley back and deep.
“Defending, we knew that Burnley were a really good team attacking. With the ball, they have really technical players in the positions and they have the right speed to find the pockets and the outside. They are really threatening there.
“But we were able to control that for moments and it was a good game with good moments. We had to work hard and believe that, from situations that don’t normally give you something, that you can still get something out of it. The chasing was unbelievable.
“Both situations come from chasing opportunities, that’s a massive part of our game and the mindset we want. It’s about understanding that all situations can become a real pressing moment.”
