Colne Town Council is to invest £190,000 in the project which will see Alkincoates, King George V, West Street, Waterside Upper and Waterside Lower all be refurbished.

Coun. Mary Thomas, chairman of Colne Town Council, said: "This is the latest improvement project that the town council has undertaken, and we are excited to be able to improve the facilities available in Colne for the residents."

Colne Town Council’s portfolio of playgrounds was reviewed which identified a large amount of improvement works needed to be undertaken to improve them with surfaces as well as equipment replaced where needed.

In February 2020 Colne Town Council went out to consultation to borrow £160,000 towards a playground improvements project around Colne and the loan was accepted for the town council to take the project forward.
