The group is a chance for men to get some fresh air and have a natter. There is no agenda, and everyone is welcome. It is more of a social than a hike, so comfortable shoes or trainers and clothing suited to the weather are all you need. The aim is to host a weekly walk in Clitheroe that is free for any man to join.

Men Walking & Talking was established in Telford in 2021. It now runs free, volunteer-led walking groups for men aged 18 and over in more than 90 communities across the UK.

The weekly walks create a safe space for men to connect, talk openly and feel supported, without pressure or judgement. The idea is that walking side by side makes conversation flow more easily than sitting across a table. Alongside this, the organisation aims to break down the stigma around men’s mental health and help tackle loneliness.

The group is run by volunteers, who are not mental health professionals. It offers friendly peer support and is not a substitute for professional help. Anyone in crisis can contact Samaritans free on 116 123.
