Malcolm, who has suffered with macular degeneration for five years, is taking on the challenge of riding to the Eye for the fourth time and it is the second time that Caroline has joined him.

This year, the route takes them from Colne across into Yorkshire along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal to Bingley, via Pontefract, Doncaster and on to Gainsborough, then down in to Lincolnshire, through Cambridgshire and Hertfordshire and on to the finish in London.

Malcolm said: “I have had to give up my driving licence because of my eyesight but cycling is a great alternative way of getting around and it is valuable to me.

“The route is a really nice one through the countryside and we are aiming to ride 35 miles per day.

“We raised quite a bit of money, £1,600, last year but have set the target at £2,000 this time.”
