East Lancashire Alliance hosts free health and wellbeing events in Nelson and Burnley
The East Lancashire Alliance is hosting two free community health and wellbeing events in Nelson and Burnley
The events, organised by the East Lancashire Alliance, will offer residents practical advice and support to help them stay well this winter.
The Alliance is working with NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board, local councils, NHS trusts, voluntary, community, and faith organisations, and other partners to improve access to support and help tackle health inequalities.
Visitors will be able to access free health checks, speak to local health and wellbeing professionals, and find information about benefits and welfare support. A selection of refreshments will also be available on-site alongside several fun activities for children.
The events will also provide eligible patients* with an opportunity to access trusted immunisation advice and receive their Influenza (flu) or MMR (1st or 2nd dose) vaccination.
Nigat Sultana, chief executive officer, and Dr Yasara Naheed, training and education lead, East Lancashire Alliance., said: “With families and NHS services under pressure, prevention must be a shared priority.
“Bringing health services, councils and community organisations together helps us build trust, reach people earlier and tackle barriers to better health. By combining practical support with a welcoming, fun day for families, we can make vital services more accessible and strengthen the community partnerships needed to reduce health inequalities.”
The first event will be hosted at the Chai Centre, Hurley Street, Burnley, BB10 1BY on Saturday November 14, between 11am to 3pm.
Following this, a second event will be held at LightBeam Academy, The Bestlight Community Hub, 9 Market Square, Nelson, on November21 between 1 pm to 3-30 pm.
Both events are free to attend, and open to visitors of all ages. No booking is required to attend the general health and wellbeing activities.
Vaccinations are offered by prior appointment only. Eligible patients will be contacted in advance to arrange a flu or MMR vaccination, including a first or second MMR dose where appropriate. For any questions regarding vaccination eligibility, please contact your GP.
