La Locanda Opera Day sees tenor Sean Ruane and soprano Kate Daggett perform

Diners were treated to a taste of Italy in more ways than one when a respected tenor and soprano teamed up to offer an operatic soundtrack at an award-winning Italian restaurant.

Sean Ruane and Kate Daggett delighted guests at a special Opera Day in Gisburn’s La Locanda restaurant.

Over a welcome aperitivo, guests were introduced to the operatic stars with a rousing performance from Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’ and ‘National Anthem Inno di Mameli’.

Talented tenor Sean, originally from Bacup, has built an international reputation over the years with performances in Italy and London’s top opera houses, while also singing the national anthem at various England internationals sporting events.

Sean has coached soprano Kate, a retired college tutor from Burnley, who also enthralled diners with her remarkable voice.

Kate said: “La Locanda’s Opera Day was a happy and uplifting event, which I was delighted to be a part of. It was a fantastic occasion and a joy to sing with Seán in this authentic Italian restaurant.”
