All market hall traders will receive 100% business rate relief and a £10,000 hardship grant from the Government to help them cover their overheads.

Burnley Council is working to process the payments of these grants as quickly as possible and is supporting traders to access support for their employees where applicable.

A council spokesman said: "We have taken this decision in light of updated advice from the Government and to protect customers, traders and staff. Fresh food sales will continue until further notice but we would ask that shoppers act responsibly and ensure social distancing, keeping two metres apart at all times."
