Gary (34) suffered devastating injuries in a motorbike accident which resulted in the amputation of his leg in May last year. Riding through Ingleton in North Yorkshire, the bike skidded on gravel and Gary was thrown off it. He landed in a field and his right leg smashed into a fence post, causing devastating injuries.

Emergency services were called, along with the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, which airlifted Gary to Lancaster Hospital. He was later moved to the Royal Preston Hospital where surgeons placed him in an induced coma. Gary went on to make a miraculous recovery, amazing medics with his resilience and determination.

Kelly (34) said: “A lot of people have asked me why we are doing this for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance so I explain how they helped Gaz. I also point out none of us know when we may need the service as we all go out of Burnley for days out in Yorkshire to places like Malham Cove, Ingleton and Skipton, areas the Yorkshire Air Ambulance covers.”

Kelly hopes to use her new role to spread awareness of the vital service, that doesn’t receive any funding from the Government.

Kicking off at 11am until 5pm the fun day boasts a host of attractions including stalls selling a variety of items, from cakes and dog treats to wax melts, hand-made flower crafts and wreaths. Food will be available and there is also a bouncy castle and hook a duck.

Entry to the event is £5 for adults with under 12’s free.

Kelly said: “I want to thank all my family, friends and also Stan Heaton at the cricket club, for helping to make this day a reality.”
