Burnley Wakes Fun Fair returns to Towneley Park with 130ft thrill ride
Burnley's annual Wakes Fun Fair returns to Towneley Park next week, bringing more than 30 rides and attractions for families to enjoy during the summer holidays.
Running from July 8 to 13, the fair will once again feature the Stealth Bomber, a 40-metre (130ft) thrill ride that organisers say offers panoramic views across East Lancashire and as far as Yorkshire on a clear day.
The ride, which made its Burnley debut last year, features a giant spinning arm with four-seat gondolas at either end. As it rotates, the gondolas rock and somersault freely, creating sudden changes in direction and forces of up to 4G.
Leesa Beckwith, spokesperson for the Lancashire Section of the Showmen's Guild, which organises the event, said: "We're thrilled to bring Stealth Bomber back to Towneley Park after its well-received debut in 2025. It really is a great thrill ride, and the views of East Lancs, the Pennines and Calderdale Valley from the top will be just as breathtaking."

Alongside the headline attraction, visitors can expect a mix of major thrill rides including Freak Out, Mexican Wave, Tagada, Miami, Super Bob and Ice Palace 3D, as well as traditional favourites such as the Waltzer, Dodgems and Fun House.
There will also be plenty for younger visitors, with children's rides including the Cups and Saucers, Balloon Ride, inflatables and trampolines, while food stalls and traditional fairground games will also be on site.
The Burnley Wakes Fun Fair will be held in Towneley Park car park from Wednesday, July 8, until Monday, July 13. Opening times are 5.30pm to 9.30pm on weekdays, 1pm to 9.30pm on Saturday and 1pm to 7pm on Sunday. Organisers say most children's rides will cost £2.50 and most larger rides £3, with discount vouchers also available.
