Towneley Live competition draws near

THE deadline is looming for budding Beyonces and Biebers to make a bid for chart stardom.

Entries for the Towneley Live competition, which will see the winner record their very own single, have to be in by Friday.

The competition is being run in conjunction with the Towneley Live festival, which comes to Towneley Park on Saturday, August 13th, and features a stellar line-up including chart-toppers McFly, N-Dubz, The Saturdays and Scouting For Girls.

Teenagers aged 13 to 19 who believe they have star quality can enter the competition by downloading the entry form, which can be downloaded on the right.

Completed forms should be sent with a CD of their voice performing one song to Doc Redeye Music, PO Box 506, Burnley, BB11 9EF.

The best entries will be narrowed down to between 20 and 25 finalists who will perform live in front of a judging panel of industry professionals at The ACE Centre on Friday, July 22nd.

From there two acts will enter a public vote off with the winner working alongside sound engineer Andrea Quarin and producer Steve Reid on the single “Every Day” at the ACE Centre’s Studio 11 (pictured below).

Steve, of Doc Redeye Music, said: “Staff at the ACE Centre have been really supportive in helping us set up this competition. I will be producing the single along with Andrea from the ACE Centre and we will be using the facilities there, which really are top class.

“The competition, though, is not just about one person winning. There is a lot of talent in and around the town and we’re looking forward to casting our eye over everybody who performs.”

Entrants must be available for the heats and recording process.

The winner will have to sign a contract for a one-single deal. Under 18s must have parental permission to enter.
