Setback for Burnley College’s Female Football academy

BURNLEY College’s Female Football Academy lost 4-0 away to Runshaw College, despite some excellent play in midfield by Advanced Diploma in Sports Studies student Bethany Cattle.

Coach Gemma Donnelly said: “We had high expectations for this game following some excellent performances.

“But despite a solid start, we gifted Runshaw an own goal and then came under intense pressure in the second half, which led to Runshaw dominating all areas of the pitch.”

The Male Football Academy drew 3-3 at home to Manchester College, after leading 3-0 at half-time.

Goal scorers were Business Administration student Sam Reeves, Advanced Diploma in Sport Science student Oliver Venn and Advanced Diploma in Sport Studies student Ross Murphy.

Coach, former Claret Gerry Harrison, said: “We produced a very pleasing and dominant first half performance, but didn’t get going after the break and gifted Manchester their three goals.

“We are disappointed with the result but the game will serve as a learning curve for the team.”
