Scott Parker issues fresh Burnley transfer update after quiet start to the window
Scott Parker insists there’s a “willingness” from Burnley’s owners to bring in new signings during the January transfer window.
It’s been a quiet first half of the month for the Clarets, who have yet to secure any incomings.
Given the club’s battle for survival, that has prompted some frustration from Burnley fans, who are keen to see an injection of quality.
Providing a fresh update on Burnley’s transfer plans ahead of this weekend’s trip to Liverpool, Parker says they remain active.
When asked if any progress has been made on signings, the Clarets boss said: “We're hoping to, for sure.
“I always say that there's so many different variables in that. Of course, there's a willingness there. There's a willingness from owners. There's a willingness from everyone to try and add some quality or add something to this group that can help us.
“But, of course, like I said, there's different dynamics that go into that. But we're active, or at least we're trying to do that. But we'll see what pans out over the next couple of weeks.

“It's always a tough window, this window. It's a short window and you're right in the middle of the season, so it always becomes a difficult one. But we're active to try and do something.”
Parker has previously laid out the challenges of navigating Burnley’s 25-man squad list, which to this point remains full – although Josh Cullen is expected to drop out after suffering a devastating ACL injury.

To make space, the Clarets may have to make some tough decisions on players that would otherwise be in the frame to play.
On the outgoing front, Hannes Delcroix and Luca Koleosho have moved on – Delcroix on a permanent to Swiss side FC Lugano and Koleosho on loan to FC Paris, albeit with an option.
Fresh reports have emerged today suggesting fellow French side Nice are interested in a move for Clarets defender Hjalmar Ekdal.
Responding to that speculation, Parker said: “At this present moment in time, Ekdal's been in and around things.
“There may be an option there, but at this present moment in time, that's not something that we're really active on. But again, we'll see how things go.”
Reports in Wales also suggest winger Manuel Benson could be set for an early recall from his loan at Swansea City, where he’s struggled for game time. But Parker has suggested he will be staying put.
“I don't think that'll be the case,” he said.
“I don't think many will be coming back at this moment. Again, I don't know the full ins and outs regarding that situation, so we'll see how things develop there.”
