The Clarets made 14 new signings over the summer – 10 newcomers plus turning the loans of four of last season’s loanees into permanent moves.

Some of those signings have been more influential than others, so we’ve ranked them by their stats-backed WhoScored rating – here are the results:

NOTE: Max Weiss hasn’t featured in the league, only in cup competitions, so doesn’t receive a rating.

Martin Dubravka – 6.80

Not only is Dubravka Burnley’s highest performing summer signing, he also receives the highest rating of any Burnley player this season. Despite keeping just three clean sheets and conceding 41 goals in 21 games, there can be no doubt the Slovakian has been Burnley’s best player so far this term. Those records would be a lot worse if it wasn’t for Dubravka, who has been an ever present this season, the only member of Scott Parker’s squad to play every minute of every game. The experienced shot stopper has made a number of key saves at vital moments in games.

He’s only made five appearances in the league, three from the start, following a late return from injury, but he’s still managed to make an impression. He’s averaged 5.2 clearances per game during that time and 0.6 blocks per game, with only three other Burnley players bettering that record. He’s since consolidated his place in Burnley’s starting XI and, fitness permitting, should remain there for the foreseeable future given his performances.

Quilindschy Hartman – 6.63

Despite being a left-back, the Dutchman leads the way for assists for Burnley this season with four. Josh Cullen and Marcus Edwards are closest with two apiece. Only Edwards has produced more key passes too. While he's seen as an offensively-minded full-back, only Florentino Luis has produced more tackles than him this season and only three of his teammates have made more interceptions. But the question is, can the former Feyenoord man reclaim his spot in the side? He recently dropped out of Parker’s starting XI after a run of poor performances, culminating in some criticism from Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp after the defeat to Fulham.

Florentino Luis – 6.59

Florentino leads the way for average tackles per game with 3.6. In fact, he’s way out on his own, with Quilindschy Hartman second with 2.1. Florentino is also joint top with Maxime Esteve for average interceptions, of 1.4. While he’s predominately known to be a defensively-minded player, he also has one assist to his name. He’s a reliable performer too, only five Burnley players have played more minutes than him so far this season. Florentino, somewhat unsurprisingly given the combative nature of his game, has also committed the most fouls of any Burnley player this season.

Jaidon Anthony – 6.51

The winger started the season like a house on fire after making his permanent move from Bournemouth permanent, scoring four times in his first six games. Since then it’s been a bit more tough going, but he netted a sublime goal during the recent 2-2 draw against Manchester United to make it five for the season, which is still an impressive return. He only has one assist to his name though, which is something he’ll be looking to improve on. But he’s fourth in the list for key passes and has produced the most shots of any Burnley player this season, with 20.

Zian Flemming – 6.51

With five goals to his name from eight starts and 15 appearances, it’s fair to say it’s been an excellent debut Premier League campaign for the Dutchman, who is now a permanent Burnley player after last season’s loan from Millwall. It’s just a shame his season has been disrupted by injuries, firstly at the start of the season and then during the past two or three weeks. Flemming has produced 18 shots from those 15 appearances, which is an impressive number given his relative lack of game time – only Jaidon Anthony has more and he’s played roughly double the amount of minutes. Flemming has been clinical in front of goal, scoring five times from an xG of 3.7.

Kyle Walker – 6.47

The former Manchester City stalwart started the season well. In fact, he would have been up there with Martin Dubravka had he managed to maintain it – but over the past month or two there’s been a noticeable dip in form. The right-back has one assist to his name and one Man of the Match award under his belt. He’s also joint-third in the list of most tackles per game and joint top with Florentino Luis and Maxime Esteve for most interceptions. His crossing stats are a lot lower than Quilindschy Hartman and Lucas Pires on the other flank, however, and he’s ranked 16th for key passes.

Axel Tuanzebe – 6.36

Tuanzebe is another one whose season has been disrupted by injury, having made just eight appearances. He had to be patient for his first action, having not featured at the start of the campaign following his free transfer from Ipswich Town. Recently, meanwhile, he’s been away at the African Cup of Nations with DR Congo. When he has played, he’s averaged 0.9 blocks per game, a number only matched by Maxime Esteve. He’s also averaged 6.5 clearances per game, which puts him second behind Hjalmar Ekdal. Tuanzebe has also averaged 1.1 tackles per game (11th) and 0.6 blocks (joint 7th).

Lesley Ugochukwu – 6.36

With three goals to his name already this season, the powerful midfielder has surprised some with his attacking threat in the opposition penalty box. He’s yet to claim an assist though. Offensively, he’s relatively low down for key passes (0.3, joint 10th) and dribbling (0.3, 11th). Defensively, he’s fifth for the average number of tackles per game (1.6), joint-seventh for interceptions (0.6) and joint-third for blocks (0.6). He’s 10th, meanwhile, for pass completion. The Frenchman has attempted 17 shots so far this season, a number only bettered by two others.

Marcus Edwards – 6.35

This rating is a little harsh given he’s only recently come into Burnley’s starting XI, having been left frustrated for much of the season in his search for game time. But despite only starting three games, he already has two assists to his name – only Quilindschy Hartman has more. He’s third in the list for average dribbles and has averaged the most key passes of any Burnley player with 1.3. Should he continue this form, there’s no doubt his average rating with improve as the season goes on.

Armando Broja – 6.30

Broja is another Burnley player that has had to be patient, having arrived at Gawthorpe lacking in match sharpness, due to a combination of historic injuries and a lack of pre-season at Chelsea. But Broja broke his duck at Bournemouth in December to rescue the Clarets a late point, which to date remains his one and only goal. But his performances have improved in recent weeks and he’s clearly looking far sharper. He also has an assist to his name and has produced 13 shots from his six starts, the fourth highest of any Burnley player this season. A lot more to come, you suspect.

Loum Tchaouna – 6.26

The Frenchman’s form has been up and down since his summer arrival from Lazio, scoring just once from nine starts and 16 appearances. It was some finish though, picking out the top corner with a dipping, swerving effort from long range during the 2-0 win against Leeds United. Tchaouna has averaged just 0.2 dribbles per game though, putting him joint 12th and has averaged just 0.2 key passes, putting him 14th. It’s been an underwhelming start to his Burnley career, but after a goal in the FA Cup against Millwall he’ll be hoping to make far more of an impact during the second half of the season.

Jacob Bruun Larsen – 6.24

Having finished the season as Burnley’s top goalscorer during their last campaign in the Premier League under Vincent Kompany, hopes were high that Bruun Larsen could have a similar impact this time around. But he’s yet to score from his 18 appearances, nine of which have come from the start and a further nine off the bench. He ranks joint sixth for the average number of key passes with 0.6 and also ranks fairly highly for dribbles (5th with 0.5 per game). He’s also claimed just one assist, which is something he’ll want to improve on for the remainder of the campaign as a creative player.
