PLAYER RATINGS: Burnley v Arsenal
Martin Odegaard's sumptuous set-piece on the half-hour separated the sides and inflicted a fourth defeat from five on the Clarets.
The Norwegian international swept a free-kick beyond Nick Pope's reach after Ashley Westwood had upended Bukayo Saka on the edge of the box.
Burnley were much better after the break with the introductions of debutant Maxwel Cornet and Matej Vydra giving the hosts a shot in the arm.
The latter thought he'd won his side a penalty when going to ground under Aaron Ramsdale's challenge.
However, following the Gunners' protestations, referee Anthony Taylor overturned the decision after checking his monitor.
Cornet also made his mark, giving the home support a significant lift, and he also marked his first appearance for the club with a goal.
The ball broke for the Ivorian inside the penalty area, but Ramsdale turned the attempt over the crossbar.
Dwight McNeil then fired into the side-netting and substitute Jay Rodriguez headed over in a late flurry for the Clarets.
Here are the ratings.
Burnley were much better after the break with the introductions of debutant Maxwel Cornet and Matej Vydra giving the hosts a shot in the arm.

9. Ashley Westwood 5.5
Led Burnley's press in the second half, closing the opposition with intensity, forcing the Gunners to drop deep. However, set-pieces not as effective and cynical trip on Saka, for which he was booked, led to Odegaard's winner.

10. Chris Wood 5
Dominated in the air by Gabriel in a largely anonymous first half display from the Kiwi. Perked up following the introduction of Vydra and his movement across the front improved. Failed to trouble Ramsdale throughout.

11. Ashley Barnes 5
Made a nuisance of himself, picked up better positions in front of goal, but lacked composure when it counted. Hooked one effort over the bar, headed horribly wide from another, and then crowded out. Harshly booked and replaced by Vydra.

12. Matej Vydra 6.5
Made the world of difference when introduced early in the second half. The Clarets looked far more threatening with the Czech striker on the pitch. Stretched the play, got in behind and won the penalty that was eventually overturned. Needs to start.
