Despite holding the visitors to a goal-less first half at Turf Moor, Thomas Tuchel’s side were ruthless after the break.
The Carabao Cup runners-up netted three times in eight minutes with Kai Havertz’s double adding to Reece James’ 47th minute opener.
Christian Pulisic then compounded the Clarets’ misery when adding a fourth goal in the 55th minute .

9. Ashley Westwood 4
Didn't do a great deal wrong before half-time, aside from a moment of hesitation which allowed Jorginho to get a shot in on goal. His swirling cross proved problematic for Mendy and McNeil ought to have capitalised when the Senegalese stopper spilled the ball. However, unable to get close to Chelsea's Brazilian midfielder to limit his influence in the second half. Photo: Alex Livesey

10. Jay Rodriguez 5
Wasn't really given the opportunity to get on the ball, but forced the error from Mendy as the Chelsea goalkeeper spilled Westwood's cross, which led to McNeil's miss, and then showed tenacity to recover the ball from Chalobah on the byline to keep the ball alive. Replaced by Cornet with 20 minutes remaining. Photo: Alex Livesey

11. Wout Weghorst 5
Enjoyed a physical joust with the likes of Rudiger and Silva, who was well-positioned to clear the Dutchman's first-time shot from Lennon's delivery off the line in the first half. Tried to find pockets to collect the ball and make things happen while a raking pass, which picked out McNeil in plenty of space, was perhaps his best moment of the game. Photo: Stu Forster

12. Maxwel Cornet 4.5
The game was well-and-truly gone by the time the Ivorian was introduced, but he injected a bit of life into the home side's display in the final third. He got at Rudiger with his pace, broke into the area a number of times, with one cross into the six yard box crying out for a touch, and felt he should've had a penalty when getting goal side of Chalobah and having his shirt pulled.
