Ross Wallace’s side will line up in the WSL2, the second tier of the women’s game, for the first time in the club’s history.

It comes after Sunday’s 3-0 win over Stoke City secured the National League North title and promotion after several years of trying.

The Clarets currently play the vast majority of their home encounters at Leyland’s County Ground, at the home of the Lancashire FA. But it’s understood that ground won’t meet WSL2 requirements next season.

Lola Ogunbute, the club’s head of women’s football, has suggested Turf Moor will be the home from now on, while another venue will have to be found for when the stadium isn’t available.

“There's a lot of talk around where we'll play our home games and, of course, the priority is to be able to play them here [at Turf Moor],” she told the Burnley Express.

“We've got to look at fixtures. We've got to look at the schedule. We’ve obviously got a season where the men’s team will be playing in the Championship where there’s more fixtures.

“But I'm pretty confident that we'll be able to get a plan together where the women can play here.”

Ogunbute has consistently credited ALK Capital for the way they’ve invested heavily in the women’s team.

But stepping up another level to a highly competitive WSL2, she knows they’ll have to go again.

“Yes, we have to,” she added.

“They've backed us with going full-time. I knew that would make a big difference, and it has, and they'll back us again because they want the women's team and men's team to be successful.

“I'm in safe hands with ALK, the ownership and the vision that they have for the women's team.”
