'It's a privilege': Burnley man marks major milestone following recent summer move
While the trip to Brentford didn’t go Burnley’s way on Saturday, it will still be a game Florentino Luis will be able to look back on fondly.
The summer recruit started as Scott Parker’s side were beaten 3-1 to lose for the fourth straight game.
For Florentino though, it was still a proud achievement to make his 300th career appearance at the age of 26.
The midfielder made his first break with Benfica B back in 2016, before going on to make his debut for the first-team three years later.
Loan spells at Monaco and Getafe also followed, but he was also part of the title-winning Benfica sides in 2018/19 and 2022/23.
Prior to his move to Turf Moor during the summer, the Portuguese man also regularly appeared in the Champions League.
Florentino is now a regular of Scott Parker’s starting XI’s, making 10 appearances so far this season.

“At 26, I'm truly grateful to reach this milestone,” he penned on Instagram.
"It reflects consistency and trust in my work and in what I'm able to deliver on the pitch. Such regularity is only possible through strong physical preparation, discipline and commitment.
“These 300 games were played across Benfica, Getafe, Monaco and now Burnley. They allowed me to win titles, experience top-level football in the Champions League and compete in some of the biggest leagues in Europe and now in the Premier League. Each stage helped shape who l am as a player and as a person.
“May this journey continue in a positive way, with many more games ahead and with great success at Burnley.
“It's a privilege to live from my passion.”
