The striker, who replaced the injured Chris Wood in the 22nd minute against the Saints, cushioned Jeff Hendrick's pass before skipping past his marker and launching the ball past Alex McCarthy. Ashley Westwood had earlier scored Burnley's fastest ever goal in the Premier League, before Danny Ings drew the hosts level. Here are our ratings from the South Coast...
9. Ashley Westwood 7
Scored Burnley's fastest ever Premier League goal when scoring directly from a corner in the second minute. Pressed well in midfield and restricted passing opportunities for the Saints. Almost set up Vydra in the first half.
10. Jay Rodriguez 7
The striker is the very definition of a 'team player'. Presses from the front, restricts the full backs from playing out, links play, tracks back, runs the channels and carries a threat. Forced a fine save from McCarthy late on.
11. Chris Wood 6
The New Zealander pulled up innoculously when leading a break in the first half and was replaced by Vydra midway through the first half.
12. Matej Vydra 8
The forward had his chance to prove himself and he grabbed it with both hands. Good movement in the final third, often getting in behind, and took his goal superbly. The control and finish was sublime.
