Josh Ginnelly was a Burnley player between 2015 and 2018 yet failed to turn out for the first-team, only ever representing the Clarets in pre-season action.

He was shipped out on loan five times, spending time with Altrincham, Tranmere Rovers and Walsall as well as two spells with Lincoln City.

After being released upon the expiration of his contract, the 28-year-old linked up with Walsall on a permanent basis, but again failed to land a long-term home.

The wide man has since turned out for Preston North End, Bristol Rovers, Hearts and Swansea City.

But following an injury-hit spell in South Wales, Ginnelly was let go by the Swans in September 2025 and has remained a free agent until this week, when he signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Azerbaijani-club Turan Tovuz.

The club sit in third place in Azerbaijan’s top division, six points behind European regulars Qarabag and 10 points behind leaders Sabah, albeit with a game in hand.

Turan have won the Azerbaijan championship just once, during the 1994/95 season.
