Burnley's Josh Laurent makes 'happy' claim following deadline day move from Stoke City

The midfielder was one of three new arrivals on the final day of the summer transfer window, alongside Jeremy Sarmiento and Zian Flemming.

Laurent joined for an undisclosed fee, penning a two-year contract with the option for a third.

The ex-Stoke City man was thrown straight in for his debut the following day, impressing in the 1-1 East Lancashire derby draw against Blackburn Rovers.

Speaking after that game, Laurent discussed his move and how he’s been welcomed with open arms.

“We’ve got a good manager, an organised club and a good group of boys,” he said. “I just couldn’t wait to get in the building, meet everyone and get going.

“The feeling here has been unbelievable the three days I’ve been here. I’m really happy and excited, this is the happiest I’ve been in a while so I’m really excited to get going and push on for the club.”

When it was put to Laurent that his happiness was certainly reflected in his debut display, the 29-year-old added: “I’m very happy, this is the happiest I’ve been playing football for a few years if I’m being brutally honest.

“I’m happy to be here, the staff have been amazing with me, the players have been amazing with me, they’ve made me feel so comfortable already.

“Hopefully I can show that happiness in my game.”

Laurent will be hoping to start for a second straight game when Burnley face Leeds United on their return from the international break next week.
