The Burnley winger made only 13 appearances last season after suffering a troublesome calf injury suffered on international duty with Iceland.

Having suffered a knee problem in the first game of this term in the Carabao Cup against Sheffield United, he has recovered to feature in the last four games, but is now a doubt for Saturday's home clash with Chelsea.

Robbie Brady is available to step up, while Sean Dyche has also used Josh Brownhill in a role slightly tucked in on the right.

Dyche is waiting for clearance for Phil Bardsley after testing positive for coronavirus, with Erik Pieters likely to miss out again with a calf injury, while Ben Mee and Jack Cork are closing in on a return, but not ready for first team action just yet.

Dyche explained: "Bardo still has to recover from the Covid situation - only for testing, he has recovered. But the testing has to be cleared.

"Johann has a niggly calf so he is touch and go.

"Erik Pieters won't make it.

"Ben had a run out in the week, which was good, and we are trying to get him another game ASAP.

"He is training with us all the time now so that is good news.

"He is getting there, but he has been out a while now so ideally we need more game time for him, but he is certainly sharpening up in training.

"Corky is a bit behind them and making steady progress.

"Even with the bodies getting back towards us and recovering, we have lost a couple in the meantime which is not ideal."
