Burnley v Sheffield United RATINGS: Clarets win 5-4 in a penalty shootout to progress in the Carabao Cup
The Clarets were rewarded with a trip to The Den to take on Millwall in the third round of the Carabao Cup after beating Sheffield United at Turf Moor.
The home side came from a goal behind to force the shootout after David McGoldrick opened the scoring in the third minute.
Burnley lost Johann Berg Gudmundsson on the quarter-of-an-hour mark as the Icelandic international was left clutching his knee following a challenge from Jack Robinson.
Matej Vydra equalised in the 67th minute when lifting the ball over Wes Foderingham from Jay Rodriguez's cushioned header before the tie went to a shootout.
Chris Wood, Vydra, Josh Brownhill and Erik Pieters all converted before Robbie Brady kept his cool to wrap up the victory.

5. Charlie Taylor 6
Sheffield United had very little success down that side of the pitch as Taylor and Pieters combined well. Didn't get forward as much as he would have liked as the Blades committed men forward, but always looking to find space.

6. Johann Berg Gudmundsson N/A
The Icelandic winger looked bright in pre-season and had given us a little taster of what was to come against the Blades, until his involvement was ended by a horrific challenge from Jack Robinson after just 14 minutes.

7. Josh Brownhill 7
More effective in the first half than the second, but it was another positive showing. Comfortable on the ball, always looking to collect a pass, incisive and accurate with his distribution and quick in the challenge. Proving to be a key cog in midfield and netted in the shootout.

8. Ashley Westwood 7
Makes the game look so easy at times. The midfielder just seems to have a knack of always being in the right place at the right time. Good on and off the ball, breaking up play well, and knitted play together nicely. Unlocked the Blades defence a number of times.
