Scott Parker’s men looked to be cruising to a thoroughly deserved victory following a dominant first-half display, which saw them lead thanks to goals from Hannibal and Jaidon Anthony.
Norwich set up a nervy final 15 minutes, however, after Jack Stacey bundled home from close range.
But the Clarets held firm and saw out the late pressure to cling on for a 2-1 win, that sees them move five points clear of Sheffield United in third place ahead of the Saturday games.
Here’s how Burnley’s players rated:

5. Maxime Esteve - 8/10
Manages to win the ball even when he gives his opponent a five-yard head start. Squandered a good chance to score when he side footed over from eight yards. Photo: Matt McNulty

6. Lucas Pires - 7/10
So settled on the ball and defensively sound once again. Continues to impress standing in for Bashir Humphreys. Photo: Morgan Harlow

7. Josh Cullen - 8/10
Superb execution for the lobbed pass to set up Hannibal’s opener and never wastes a pass. Had to tread carefully after picking up a harsh yellow. Photo: Matt McNulty

8. Hannibal - 8/10
Bagged his first Burnley goal with a superbly-timed run and finish and unlucky not to add a second when he clipped the outside of the post. Photo: Kelvin Lister-Stuttard
