Swansea City v Burnley: Team news, predicted teams and TV details

Everything you need to know ahead of Swansea City v Burnley

Burnley’s long wait for a win takes them to South Wales this afternoon to face Swansea City.

Despite being much improved in midweek, Nicky Hayen’s side were still only able to play out a 1-1 draw with Wrexham.

It leaves the Clarets without a win so far this season, while you have to go all the way back to February for their last three points.

It leaves them second from bottom in the Championship table, in stark contrast to today’s opponents who have started the season well.

The Swans sit third in the table, although they did lose their first game of the season in midweek with a 3-1 reversal at the hands of Southampton.

Here’s all the important information ahead of today’s fixture:

When and where is the game taking place?

The match is being held at the swansea.com stadium on Saturday, September 12. Kick off is at 3pm.

Is it on TV?

No, the game falls behind the UK’s Saturday 3pm blackout.

How else can I follow the game?

Burnley FC writer Matt Scrafton will be providing live updates on his X feed, followed by a match report, post-match reaction and further analysis on the Burnley Express’ website.

What’s the latest team news?

Jamie Vardy could make his Burnley debut, having missed the Wrexham game through a suspension carried over from Italy.

He’s unlikely to start though, with Hayen confirming he might be limited to 20 minutes off the bench due to his lack of a pre-season.

Elsewhere, Jacob Bruun Larsen will miss out again with a minor heel issue that also ruled him out of the midweek trip to North Wales.

Josh Cullen, Hannibal, Enock Agyei, Jaydon Banel and Dastan Satpayev all remain sidelined.

Ben Amos, Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Shurandy Sambo, Marcus Edwards, Mike Tresor, Ashley Barnes and Michael Obafemi are all unavailable having been left out of Burnley’s 25-man squad.

As for Swansea, Cameron Burgess, Goncalo Franco and Ross Stewart will all miss out.

Nicky Hayen’s pre-match comments

“One loss doesn't mean that everything is going to change for them.

“So they're really comfortable on the ball, they play really good football, create a lot of chances, so it's one of the better teams so far in the league, and we're aware.

“But okay, this is also maybe a team that suits us. They want to play football, we want to play football and we just have to be in the best shape.

“If we already can have the level from the Wrexham game, we will end up far.”

What are the predicted teams?

Swansea: Vigouroux, Key, Lisseh, Welsh, Tymon, Widell, Fulton, Eustaquio, Yeo, Idah, Vipotnik

Burnley: Weiss, Sonne, Walker, Ahmedhodzic, Roberts, Alleyne, Raghouber, Laurent, Ramsey, Ramazani, Amdouni

Who is the referee?

James Bell. He’s overseen two games so far this season, both in the Championship. He’s dished out six yellow cards and one red. Last season he took charge of 17 games, showing 62 yellows but no reds. This will be his first Burnley game since the 2-1 comeback win at Coventry City in April 2025. He also sent off Bashir Humphreys that season during the 1-0 win at Leeds United. Ross Martin is fourth official.
