Referee that sent off Bashir Humphreys to take charge of Swansea City v Burnley
Everything you need to know about Swansea v Burnley referee
Burnley head back to Wales for the second time this week as they face Swansea City on Saturday.
The Clarets played out a 1-1 draw with Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground on Tuesday night.
Despite an improved performance, Nicky Hayen’s side still weren’t able to get that monkey off their back and claim their first win of the campaign - or of any kind, in 90 minutes, for that matter, since February.
They take on a Swans side that lost their first game of the season in midweek with a 3-1 reversal at Southampton, but still remain third in the Championship table.
Who is the referee for Swansea City v Burnley?
James Bell, of South Yorkshire.
He’s overseen two games so far this season, both in the Championship, dishing out six yellow cards and one red.
Going back to last season, he took charge of just 17 fixtures, handing out 62 bookings - at an average of 3.6 per game - but no reds at all.
Bell first made his EFL debut during the 2020/21 season and took charge of his first Championship game four years ago.
What history does he have with Burnley?
You have to go back to the 2024/25 promotion season under Scott Parker for the last time Bell took charge of a Burnley game.
His oversaw the 2-1 comeback win at Coventry City in April 2025, that proved to be a crucial three points in the hunt for automatic promotion.
Bell was also the man in the middle for the early season 1-0 win at Leeds United, when he sent off Bashir Humphreys, as well as the 1-0 win over Oxford United.
During the Vincent Kompany promotion campaign, meanwhile, Bell was in charge for the 5-1 thrashing of Wigan Athletic.
Who are the other officials?
Andrew Fox and Dan Leach will run the line, while Ross Martin is fourth official.
