Nicky Hayen outlines plans for 'bigger' Burnley backroom staff

Nicky Hayen discusses his plans for Burnley’s backroom staff

Nicky Hayen has revealed he intends to operate an extended backroom staff at Burnley.

The new coach has so far fit into the club’s existing team, which consists of Mike Jackson, Henrik Jensen, Pål Fjelde and Jack Cork.

But the 45-year-old has confirmed that is about to change, with further appointments to be made in the “short term”.

It comes amid reports in Belgium that Hayen’s former KRC Genk assistant Johan van Rumst could be set to follow him to Turf Moor.

“We have a backroom staff who are here, but we also have people who will be announced in the short term,” he told the Burnley Express.

“Everyone will be on board, everyone will have a specific role. The staff will be a little bit bigger than last season.

“But we want to also work a little bit, I don't want to say more professionally, because everyone works professionally. But we want to work more in detail.

“That means we want to have like a more one-on-one approach with the players, feel really connected with them, but also like give feedback, but also feed forward.

“Not only after the game, like: ‘yeah, you play well, you play bad’, but also before the game, we want to give them clear instructions, clear assignments where they can improve to do better, where their direct opponent will be with images so that they are prepared, so we will need everyone on board to help.”
