Burnley's Lyle Foster completes move to MLS side Houston Dynamo

Lyle Foster completes initial loan move to the MLS

Lyle Foster has completed his move to MLS side Houston Dynamo.

The striker, who turns 26 today, has joined the American side in an initial loan move with an option to make it permanent at the end of the season.

The Athletic claims Houston will have to pay around £5m should they wish to make Foster a full-time player.

The deal was agreed prior to last night’s MLS transfer deadline, but has only just been announced.

It’s fair to say Foster’s move to Turf Moor hasn’t worked out as planned, with the striker struggling for regular game time and goals over the last couple of seasons.

A January 2023 signing from Belgian side Westerlo, Foster scored one goal in 15 appearances during the second half of the Vincent Kompany promotion campaign.

He found the back of the net on five occasions the following season as Burnley were relegated from the Premier League, from 26 games.

Foster took a seven-week break from action during that season to prioritise his mental health.

He again struggled to find the back of the net during Scott Parker’s promotion season, scoring just three times in 31 appearances.

Foster bagged three goals last term as the Clarets were relegated from the top flight once again, having played in 28 games in league and cup.

That gives Foster an overall record of 12 goals in 100 appearances in league and cup for Burnley.

He’s yet to play a single game so far this season, left out following a late return to pre-season following his participation at this summer’s World Cup.
