Burnley release statement as forward Luca Koleosho makes Ligue 1 switch
Luca Koleosho has left Burnley for Ligue 1.
Burnley have confirmed young forward Luca Koleosho has joined Paris FC on loan for the rest of the campaign.
The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at RCD Espanyol and now moves to France. The winger has struggled for game time with Burnley’s sister club in Spain, starting just one game all season – and that came in a cup defeat to fourth-tier side Atlético Baleares last month.
In La Liga, the 21-year-old has seen just 60 minutes of action during three substitute appearances – although one of those did come at the Bernabeu during a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid. There were suggestions, as reported by the Express this week, that his loan could be brought to an early end and he be sent to Ligue 1 and that is now confirmed.
On Friday morning, a Burnley FC statement read: “Burnley Football Club can confirm that Luca Koleosho has joined Paris FC on loan. The 21-year-old will remain with the Ligue 1 side until the end of the 2025/26 season.
“Koleosho spent the first half of the campaign in the Spanish top-flight with RCD Espanyol, where he made one start and three substitute appearances in all competitions. The deal is subject to international clearance.”
What has Scott Parker said about Burnley’s transfer business?
Meanwhile, earlier this week Scott Parker confirmed Burnley will “definitely” target the acquisition of a new central midfielder following Josh Cullen’s cruel injury blow.
The Clarets skipper is facing around nine months on the sidelines after suffering an ACL injury during the recent draw with Everton. With Josh Laurent currently being utilised in a back three role, it leaves Florentino Luis, Lesley Ugochukwu and Hannibal as the only other central midfield options.
“Yeah, I think that will definitely be an area that we're looking at now to try and strengthen,” he said. “Of course, I always say it's a difficult market. January is a very difficult market. Timeframes are very short as well and you probably need to be a bit reactive to that.
“But certainly there are areas. One being that our captain has obviously come out with a long-term injury, so we're constantly looking and we'll try and do something in this window.”
