Burnley FC transfer news: Clarets suffer blow in striker pursuit, Aston Villa express interest in Championship forward

Here is today’s Championship transfer news.

Burnley managed a narrow 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town in the Carabao Cup yesterday, with Samuel Bastien scoring his first goal for the club.

The Clarets will now go into the third round draw which takes place today following the clash between Tranmere Rovers v Newcastle United - predicted to be around 9:45pm.

Meanwhile, Vincent Kompany’s side will prepare for another North-West clash as they take on Wigan Athletic in the Championship this weekend.

The Clarets have struggled since their opening day win over Huddersfield, picking up only three points from their previous four matches.
