Report: Burnley man poised to join Championship rivals before transfer deadline
Joe Worrall poised to leave Burnley - reports
Joe Worrall is primed to leave Burnley ahead of Tuesday night’s transfer deadline.
The centre-back is poised to join fellow Championship side Wrexham, with a medical booked in for today according to reports.
While unconfirmed, it’s also claimed it will be a permanent exit for the 29-year-old, rather than a loan.
Burnley FC have been contacted for comment.
Despite starting the season opener against Notts County in the Carabao Cup, Worrall has yet to feature in the Championship for Burnley this term.
He’s since fallen down the pecking order of Nicky Hayen’s centre back options following the recent arrivals of Max Alleyne and Anel Ahmedhodzic.

It’s understood Hayen is a fan of Worrall and would like to keep him around, but is unable to guarantee him regular minutes at Turf Moor. The Clarets must also trim down their bloated squad if they’re to strengthen their squad further ahead of Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.
Worrall made the move to East Lancashire in the summer of 2024 but has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot.
The former Nottingham Forest man began the 2024/25 campaign alongside Maxime Esteve, but was usurped by CJ Egan-Riley for the remainder of the season after missing a run of games through injury.
The defender made 13 appearances that season and racked up the same number of games the following season in league and cup as Burnley were relegated from the Premier League.
Wrexham have yet to keep a clean sheet in any of their first four games of the season and, following their 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City, boss Phil Parkinson declared his side had conceded “two of the softest goals” of his tenure.
